Day 1: Johannesburg - Garden Route

Welcome to South Africa!

Once you arrive and have gone through passport control you move through to the International arrival hall where you will be met by a representative. They will be holding a sign with your name on it so you don’t miss them. They will hand over your travel documents and answer any questions that you may have and take you to the car rental counter to pick-up your vehicle.

Your journey continues with a 4 hours drive to your first hotel: Iketla Lodge. Check-in and relax in your home for the next three nights. When building Iketla, the owner endeavoured to minimize the impact of development on the natural environment. The result is a comfortable retreat set amidst nature in its purest form. The surroundings and infrastructure add to the overall feel of relaxation and tranquility. That is one of the reasons why this is a Fair Trade Lodge.

Day 2: Garden Route

Today you can spend the day exploring the Panorama Route and Blyde River Canyon nearby. A beautiful picturesque destination not to be missed when visiting this region! Please note that entrance fees to these places are not included. As many excursions are weather dependent, it is a better idea not to pre-book them. Don’t forget your camera so you can take some stunning photos!

Day 4: Garden Route - Kruger National Park

Enjoy your last breakfast at Iketla Lodge before taking the road again for approximately 4 hours towards your next destination, the Kruger Park and the Rhino Post Safari Lodge.

Time for the first safari experience of your stay!

A two night stay at the Rhino Post Safari Lodge awaits you with two daily safari activities.

A natural extension of the bush and landscape, Rhino Post Safari Lodge welcomes you to South Africa’s iconic Kruger National Park. Experience responsible, eco-conscious tourism,  comfortable accommodation, and staggering biodiversity, including the highly publicized big five. Enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

You are expected for lunch and in late afternoon you'll meet with your ranger for Tea & Biscuits afterwhich you depart on your first safari. A tracker/spoorzoeker will usually come with and sit in the front of the car.  Don't be too impatient, you might not see the Big Five immediately but remember there are still 2 safaris planned tomorrow too! During your drive, you will stop for a sunset drink and will be able to enjoy the beautiful African Sunset . When the sun is gone and night has fallen , the tracker will take a big light to shine in the bushes to find some night animals such as the cats. I'm sure you will see some  lights lfickering, the reflection of their eyes . This is  really a very exciting and beautiful experience. After the safari or also called game drive, you'll return back to the lodge for refreshments and dinner.

After a good night sleep - you'll get up early in the next morning for another safari and in the afternoon the program as explained will repeat itself - don't worry,  the experience of a safari is never the same!!

Day 5: Kruger National Park

Today is your first full day in this safari lodge! Enjoy the 2 daily game drives! One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Or you can switch the one in the afternoon with a Bush Walk where you will be able to really enjoy the peace and tranquility of the bush without the sound of your game drive vehicle.

Are there any animals that you haven't seen and would like to see? Or do you want to see more of a certain animal? Tell your ranger of this and he will try to see more of this animal.

Day 6: Kruger National Park - Stellenbosch

After breakfast at Rhino Post, you will head to the KMIA airport where you will return your car rental and take your domestic flight to Cape Town.

Once you have landed at Cape Town International Airport, you will pick up your second rental car and drive through to your accommodation situated in the Winelands: Spier in Stellenbosch. Check-in and relax for the evening.

Make sure to visit all of the gorgeous wine estates in Franschhoek, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Somerset West during your stay.

Spier’s environmental and social initiatives are many and varied, and include ways to reduce water usage - 100 per cent of its wastewater, and more than 80 per cent of its solid waste, is recycled. Spier supports local communities through the treepreneur project, which encourages people in impoverished communities to grow trees in exchange for essential goods. The estate also supports entrepreneurs by helping them create micro-enterprises linked to Spier.

Day 7: Stellenbosch

During the day we recommend you visit Paarl and Franschhoek!

If you would love to sample some artisan gelato true to the Italian mastercraft as well as some refreshing local craft beer and hand made chocolates and have a choice of restaurants, shops and galleries available all at the same time then please do head out to the Spice Route Wine Estate. A real favourite amongst locals and tourists alike!

And not far from here you will find the Fairview Wine Estate. Cheese and Wine Tasting are what attract people to this destination together with the Goat Tower - especially children enjoy this sight!

Great food, great views and magnificent wine can also be found at the Mont Rochelle Wine Estate in gorgeous Franschhoek. Another great stop in our beloved Winelands.

Franschhoek and the Franschhoek pass is stunning. In the village there is a Motor Museum where you can spot vintage cars and motorbikes. You can also go on the nice wine tram and travel from the one wine estate to the other.

Afterwards take a ride on the Franschhoek Pass, a wonderful road with wonderful sights alover Franschhoek and surroundings.

Day 9: Stellenbosch - Cape Town

Time for Cape Town City! After your breakfast at Spier take the road towards Cape Town and Tamboerskloof where you will be staying at the Parker Cottage for the next four nights.

The drive to Cape Town is rather short so today there is more than enough time to visit Camps Bay, a coastal town with a nice promenade and beach. Clifton, just 10 minutes away by car has nice beaches and is very close to Cape Town.

Enjoy a drink and some food and see the sunset at the coast.

Parker Cottage offers co-finance for the education of staff members, gets involved to provide hands-on support to several social upliftment and educational programmes in the area, sources products and services from local entrepreneurs, and runs its business to ensure minimal impact on the environment.

Day 10: Cape Town

How about doing Table Mountain today?

You are welcome to either take a hike up the famous mountain as there are many trails to choose from or you can take the cable car to the top. Magnificent views from up here.

Bo-Kaap is also a great neighborhood to see with its colorful houses and vibrant history, you can explore the neighborhood on foot or hop-in the red City Sightseeing buses.

If you’re interested in history, you should definitely visit the Castle of Good Hope.

Parker Cottage (B&B)

Day 11: Cape Town

The Cape Peninsula is not to be missed. Off to Cape Point and to see the penguins at Boulders Beach. Take your walking shoes and once you have walked to the Cape Point view point, go and explore the other trails in the nature reserve. As you arrive at the Cape Point entrance they will give you a map of the area and the walking trails. There are some lovely secluded spots in the reserve - go and explore! Keep an eye out for the Baboons, some buck and the odd snake whilst exploring.

We recommend the 2 Oceans Restaurant in Cape Point for lunch, they have a great selection of sea food and meat.

Go and see Cape of Good Hope and drive along Chapman's Peak by sunset. A lovely experience!

Parker Cottage (B&B)

Day 12: Cape Town

Join us for a day filled with South Africa’s past and present history and culture and experience not only to Robben Island but also a visit to the Langa Township.

Robben Island is mostly known for its very famous resident Nelson Mandela - Tata Mandela as he is lovingly referred to by South Africans. He spend most of his 27 year prison on this island which is now a museum and one of Cape Town’s top attractions. Take a ferry trip to and from the island which departs at the Waterfront and join a walking tour of the prison conducted by former inmates of the prison itself.

After a lunch at the Waterfront in one of the many exquisite restaurants on site (we recommend Den Anker (Belgian Food) or Harbour House) you can head out to explore the Langa Township. This tour is meant to bring you closer to the South African culture and discover the buzzing life in the oldest Township of Cape Town. This is the perfect opportunity to interact with the locals and get enriched by the African culture and traditions.
